Knocking out my demons

The life story of Paul Huggins, born and bred in Hastings, is a compelling and inspirational read. His childhood, his past demons, his boxing career and faith make for a heart-warming and interesting journey.

This book shows how Hastings, as a community, has helped a young boxer and rallied with him in every competition, cheering him in his success, and made him feel that he is not boxing alone.

Social and local history plays a big part of this book and I have particularly enjoyed reading about Paul’s early years in Bembrook Road, where my family also grew up and shared experiences in this close community.

Sports bring people together and Paul’s experiences, as depicted in this book, have proved that Hastings is a connected community, ready and willing to help, and a community you can lean on.
